Dr. Ticiana Leal, MD, is a professor and director of the Thoracic Medical Oncology Program in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. She also serves as medical director of the Clinical Trials Office at Winship Cancer Institute. Before joining Emory, Dr. Leal was on the faculty at UW Carbone Cancer Center in Madison, Wisconsin, where she led the Thoracic Malignancies Disease-Oriented Team.

She earned her medical degree from the Federal University of Ceará in Fortaleza, Brazil. She completed her internal medicine residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, followed by a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison.

Dr. Leal’s clinical research focuses on trials involving chemotherapy and immunotherapy agents for lung cancer. She has authored or coauthored numerous peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters, and posters. She serves as associate editor and executive editorial board member of The Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. She is also Lung Cancer Section Editor for Current Treatment Options in Oncology and serves on the editorial advisory boards of Cancer and The Brazilian Journal of Oncology.
