Thomas Westermaier is currently working as a Vice President, Head, Professor, and Chief Physician at Helios Amper Clinic Dachau. After studying human medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, he worked from 2000 to 2001 at the neurosurgical clinic at the Klinikum München-Großhadern. He completed his doctorate in 2002 and in the same year moved to the neurosurgical clinic of the University Hospital Würzburg, where he was appointed senior physician in 2010 and senior physician in 2013.
Professor Westermaier completed his habilitation in 2011 and was appointed adjunct professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Würzburg in 2018. As a specialist in neurosurgery, he acquired additional qualifications in sports medicine and intensive care medicine. The colleague, who is highly valued in specialist circles, is involved in various organizations: From 2015 to 2019 he was the spokesman for the Neurotraumatology and Intensive Care Medicine section of the German Society for Neurosurgery. At the beginning of last year, he was elected to the board of the German Society for Neuro-Intensive and Emergency Medicine.
