Thomas Tischer MBA

Prof. Tischer is head of section orthopedic sport surgery & prevention at the department of orthopedic surgery (chair Prof. Dr. W. Mittelmeier) of the university of Rostock since 2010. He received his training (residency and fellowship) mostly at the technical university of Munich, with a specialization in orthopedic sports surgery under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Andreas B. Imhoff (head of orthopedic sport surgery, technical university of Munich).

Prof. Tischer received a research fellowship at the department of orthopedics at the university of Pittsburgh and was awarded a research prize (German speaking society for arthroscopy, AGA) for his work about tissue engineering of tendons. Prof. Tischers research currently focuses on tissue engineering techniques for tendon, meniscus and cartilage replacement as well as joint preserving surgeries.
