Dr. Thomas Müller-Reichert earned his PhD from the Department of Biology (Institute of Cell Biology) at the Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule (ETH, Switzerland) in 1995. After a post-doc at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL, Heidelberg, Germany) in the lab of Dr. Antony Hyman and spending a period for research at the University of California (Berkeley, USA) with Dr. Kent, he moved to the Max Planck Institue of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG, Dresden, Germany) to set up a new laboratory for electron microscopy in 2001. Since 2010 he is the head of the Core Facility Cellular Imaging at the Faculty of Medicine at the TU Dresden. Dr. Muller-Reichert is interested in the three-dimensional (3D) organization of microtubules mainly during mitosis and meiosis. For the analysis of spindle dynamics and ultrastructure, he is applying a variety of correlative light and electron microscopic (CLEM) approaches.
