Thomas M. Howard MD, FACSM, RMSK

Dr. Howard earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences School of Medicine and completed a residency in Family Practice at DeWitt Army Community Hospital and a primary care sports fellowship at the USUHS and Nirschl Orthopedic Sports Clinic in Arlington, VA. He retired from the Army in 2004 after 29 years of service. He joined NC State Student Health in February 2015. He previously practiced at Fairfax Family Practice in Virginia as Program Director for a Sports Medicine Fellowship and a busy sports clinician.

Dr. Howard has a special interest in sports medicine to include concussion management, musculoskeletal injury and overuse evaluation and management and utilization of office-based ultrasound for diagnostics and interventional procedures. Dr. Howard is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and holds the RMSK credential for musculoskeletal ultrasound from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
