Thomas Lefevre conducts research at the intersection of legal and social medicine, public health, and applied mathematics. It is based on classical quantitative methods (epidemiology, statistics), and non-classical (artificial intelligence, big data), with the help of interdisciplinary collaborations and teams (anthropologists, sociologists, lawyers, data scientists, epidemiologists, physicians).
He was first interested in and continues to study the physical and psychological impact on victims of violence and its assessment by doctors, particularly in the context of a legal claim. The study of this complex problem requires qualitative and quantitative approaches, taking into account the objective and subjective aspects of each situation of violence. He introduced the use of causal analysis methods on observational data to identify the main determinants, direct and indirect, of functional impact.
