Dr. Pazdernik is Professor of Pharmacology, Toxicology & Therapeutics at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Pazdernik was Associate Dean for Students (1985 to 1989) and Acting Chairman of his Department (1991 to 1992). He is a member of the Mental Retardation Research Center and Environmental and Occupational Health Center. Dr. Pazdernik has been Course Director of Medical Pharmacology since 1990 and has received numerous teaching awards. He has been particularly active in the development of Computer-Assisted Instructional (CAI) material in pharmacology.

Dr. Pazdernik is trained as a Medicinal Chemist and obtained Post-doctoral Training in Immunotoxicology, an area where he was an active researcher for the first 10 years of his academic career. Dr. Pazdernik’s current research is focused on the biochemical basis of brain injury associated with chemical convulsants, especially with soman. His most current work is focused on the role of free radical mechanisms in brain injury. He has authored or co-authored over 90 publications.
