Thomas Kukar PhD

Thomas Kukar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at Emory University School of Medicine. His lab studies the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases to guide the development of novel therapeutics, with a focus on Alzheimer's disease (AD), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He aims to understand the pathogenesis of these diseases by deciphering their molecular causes in order to identify new drug targets and ultimately therapeutic compounds. He uses a multidisciplinary approach ranging from cell culture, chemical biology, high-throughput screening, animal models, human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs), and clinical samples, to proteomics.
