Professor Hemmerling, Director of the Intelligent Technologies in Anesthesia Group, stated, "Using absolute cerebral oximetry, we had recently detected very significant cerebral oxygen desaturations in patients undergoing thoracic surgery with single-lung ventilation to an extent previously only known from cardiac surgery.
