Thomas Helms MD, PhD, MSc

Dr. Thomas M. Helms is a founding member of IZEM and Chairman of the Board of the German Foundation for the Chronically Ill. He is an experienced specialist in internal medicine and cardiology. In this capacity, he is involved in various projects in the fields of clinical electrophysiology and invasive cardiology and is active in clinical, experimental, and health research. He is a scientific advisor to the federal and state governments on questions of telemedicine and the organization of medical care for the chronically ill.

Dr. Helms is a past spokesman for AG 33 / Telemonitoring and spokesman for the cardiology "Society and Politics" committee in the German Society for Cardiology - Heart and Circulatory Research eV (DGK), a member of the Digital Medicine Commission and a member of the German mHealth Task Force Society for Internal Medicine eV His focus is on proving the benefits and sustainable implementation of innovative care concepts in the health system.
