Dr. Cowden is fellowship-trained in cornea/external diseases/anterior segment and refractive surgery. He was involved in the initial FDA clinical trials for LASIK in 1996 and since has performed thousands of refractive procedures including Custom and BLADE-FREE LASIK. He also specializes in all forms of corneal transplant surgeries (including PKP, DSEK, DMEK, DALK, and Limbal Stem Cells) tailored to the patient’s unique needs.
Dr. Cowden specializes in cataract surgery, utilizing the latest Intraocular Lens technology, Lasers and peri-operative testing in order to customize his patient’s choice for optimal vision correction. Specialties also include advanced anterior segment reconstruction as a result of trauma, or congenital defects. He earned degrees from the University of Michigan, from Wayne State University School of Medicine, completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Wisconsin, and his subspecialty Fellowship in Corneal and Refractive Surgery at the University of Minnesota
