Thimo Wiewelhove is a sports scientist with a focus on training science. He has held the professorship for training science at IST University since November 2020 and heads the master's program in training science and sports nutrition. From 2012 to 2020 he was a research assistant at the Chair of Training Science at the Faculty of Sports Science at Ruhr University Bochum. As an A-Trainer of the German Tennis Association, he was also responsible for training in the tennis department there from 2016 to 2020. From 2011 to 2020 he also supervised numerous recreational, health, and competitive athletes as head of sports science at the Center for Prevention, Sports and Medicine at the Elisabeth Hospital in Essen. Thimo Wiewelhove received his doctorate in 2016 on the subject of "Stress and recovery control in high-intensity endurance training" and completed his habilitation in training science in 2023. The topic of the cumulative habilitation thesis submitted for this purpose was "Regeneration interventions and their effectiveness in sport". In addition to numerous national and international publications and conference contributions, he is also involved in trainer training and further education for the German Tennis Association, the Association of German Tennis Teachers, and the German Swimming Association. He is also a research fellow of the European College of Sport Science and a member of the speaker council of the DVS training science section and the sports science committee of the German Tennis Association.
