Therese K. Killeen PhD

Therese Killeen, Ph.D., APRN, BC is Research Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science and an advanced practice registered nurse in the Clinical Neuroscience Division at the Medical University of South Carolina. She received her PhD in Nursing from the University of South Carolina and Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Killeen has worked in the addiction field for over 20 years as a clinician, therapist supervisor and researcher. She has been principal and co- investigator on numerous pharmacotherapy and behavioral research studies. Dr. Killeen’s special expertise includes motivational interviewing and contingency management for substance use disorders (SUD) and dual diagnoses, and cognitive behavioral interventions for SUD and comorbid PTSD/ SUD. Dr. Killeen belongs to the National Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.
