Dr. Yanagihara is a Board Certified Radiation Oncologist and Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiation Oncology at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Yanagihara performed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine where he majored in Neurobiology and Behavior. He then entered the joint MD/PhD training program at Columbia University where his research focused on advanced neuroimaging techniques applied to studies of emotional processing and brain tumour pathology.

After completing his medical training, Dr. Yanagihara performed his medical internship at Mount Auburn Hospital of Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Massachusetts before returning to Columbia University for residency training in Radiation Oncology. He continued his research efforts within brain tumour imaging throughout residency and conducted a prospective imaging study in patients with glioblastoma as well as several other retrospective research projects in patients with brain metastases. As faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College, he has continued his focus on brain tumour research, is the principal investigator on a clinical trial of patients with high-grade glioma, and maintains an active clinical practice within radiation oncology.
