Terry in October 1995 to August 1998, he is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Research Assistant Professor of Engineering, Department of Radiology, University of Mississippi Medical Center, School of Engineering, University of Mississippi. In this position he was research director of digital simulation and visualization projects for Interventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging in which he coordinated projects in both the Engineering School (CS) and the Medical School (Radiology) with the GE Signa SP surgical MR magnet.
He was also director of radiology information systems, where he integrated the Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), supervised the implementation of the Radiology Information System (RIS), evaluated digital dictation systems (including voice recognition), and designed and implemented radiology systems and a LAN-WAN network toward campus-wide filmless radiology.
Dr. Yoo has been a research computer scientist in OHPCC since September 1998. His research interests include 3D medical image processing and data visualization, multiscale image analysis, computer vision, computer graphics, computational geometry, and parallel and distributed algorithms for image acquisition, processing, and information display. He also works in statistical and structural pattern analysis through the calculus of scale-space. Dr. Yoo is a program project officer for the Visible Human Project Visible Human Project.
Dr. Yoo has a 1985 AB in Biology from Harvard University, a 1990 MS in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a 1996 PhD in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The title of his Ph.D. thesis is "Image Geometry Through Multiscale Statistics".
