Terrence L. Trentman, M.D., is a board-certified anesthesiologist, pain medicine specialist, and Professor of Anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He specializes in interventional pain management and perioperative medicine, with extensive expertise in treating acute and chronic pain through evidence-based, multidisciplinary approaches. His clinical interests include pain management, neuromodulation, regional anesthesia, perioperative optimization, and improving patient outcomes through innovative pain therapies.

Dr. Trentman earned his Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University and his Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed an internship in internal medicine, an anesthesiology residency, served as Chief Resident, and completed fellowship training in Pain Medicine at Mayo Clinic. Following his training, he served in the U.S. Air Force before joining the Mayo Clinic staff in Arizona, where he has held numerous clinical, academic, and executive leadership positions.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Trentman has served as Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, Vice Chair of the department, Medical Director of Surgical Services, Division Chair of Pain Medicine, and Chair of the Mayo Clinic Anesthesiology Specialty Council. He has also contributed to institutional leadership through roles in quality improvement, leadership development, opioid stewardship, and patient safety initiatives. His excellence in patient care and leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Mayo Clinic Arizona Distinguished Clinician Award, Phoenix Magazine Top Doc recognition, and the Mayo Clinic Arizona Patient Experience Top Performer Award.

An accomplished educator and researcher, Dr. Trentman has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications focusing on chronic pain, neuromodulation, headache management, regional anesthesia, perioperative care, and quality improvement. He remains actively involved in national professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, the Association of University Anesthesiologists, and the North American Neuromodulation Society. Through his clinical expertise, scholarly contributions, and leadership, Dr. Trentman continues to advance the fields of pain medicine and anesthesiology while improving patient care and physician education.
