Teresa Bernadette Steinbichler has been working as a Senior physician at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Medical University of Innsbruck. Her main research area is environment-mediated therapy resistance in head and neck cancer, especially in the context of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. PD Dr. Steinbichler graduated from the Technical University of Munich in 2013 and since then has worked as an Intern at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Medical University of Innsbruck. In 2015 she finished her doctoral thesis at the Institute of Human Pathology and Pathological Anatomy of the Technical University Munich about the influence of the PARP inhibitors AZD2281 on the therapy of mantle cell lymphoma. In 2017 she passed her medical specialist exam for Otorhinolaryngology in Vienna, Austria, and received the Science Award of the Austrian Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Vienna in the same year. In October 2020 she finished her habilitation on therapy resistance in head and neck cancer at the Medical University of Innsbruck. Future scientific interests are mainly therapy resistance mediated through extracellular vesicles and translational head and neck oncology. She is a member of the Austrian Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery; German National Academic Foundation; Austrian Society for Cancer Aid (Österreichische Krebshilfe); EORTC pathobiology group member and EORTC head and neck group member.
