Teresa received her BA in Psychology from Trinity College Dublin in 2011, before completing an MSc in Health Psychology at the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2012. Teresa was awarded her Ph.D. in Psychology and Health from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2016.

Teresa is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and is a member of the Division of Health Psychology. Teresa is also a member of the UK Society of Behavioural Medicine and co-leads the Cancer Prevention and Screening Special Interest Group. She is also an executive editor of the Health Psychology Bulletin.

Teresa’s research to date has focused on health behavior change and the development of acceptable and engaging interventions for those self-managing health conditions. To date, her work has largely focused on the development of interventions to promote quality of life in those who have completed treatment for cancer.

Recently, Teresa’s work has focused on the experiences of older adults living with multiple complex conditions. This has led to an interest in person-centered care, and the challenges to implementing this approach in practice.

Teresa is also currently a Visiting Fellow at the University of Southampton. Working with the CenTRIC+ team, she works on a study that aims to formalize the identification of appropriate personalized supportive care for people diagnosed with cancer. This research is funded by the Wessex Cancer Alliance, and Teresa leads the qualitative component of the study.

She has expertise in systematic reviews and web-based interventions, as well as qualitative and quantitative research.
