Dr. Tejal Gandhi is Chief Clinical and Safety Officer, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), where she leads IHI programs focusing on improving patient and workforce safety. Dr. Gandhi was President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) from 2013 until 2017, when the Foundation merged with IHI. She continues to serve as President of the Lucian Leape Institute, a think tank founded by NPSF that now operates under the IHI patient safety focus area.
She is a board member of the Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety. Dr. Gandhi was formerly the Executive Director of Quality and Safety at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Chief Quality and Safety Officer at Partners Healthcare. In these roles, she led the efforts to standardize and implement patient safety best practices across hospital and health systems.
