Dr. Tariq Azeem is a Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in coronary angioplasty and stenting, coronary heart disease, acute coronary symptoms, and heart failure.
Dr. Tariq Azeem is an interventional and general cardiologist at Royal Derby Hospital. After graduating he trained as a junior doctor mainly in regions of the North West of England. His cardiology training began at City Hospital Birmingham, where he worked as a clinical research fellow for 2 years completing his specialist registrar training in cardiology at Glenfield Hospital Leicester. After completing his specialist training in Cardiology he was appointed as an Interventional Cardiologist at Royal Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr. Azeem has played a leading role in setting up of the coronary intervention service in Derbyshire and has led the development of the Primary PCI Service in Derby to ensure that the patients in Derbyshire are treated locally and do not have to travel far or elsewhere after having a heart attack.
Dr. Azeem has written various research articles on Interventional procedures such as vascular brachytherapy, an intra-aortic balloon pump, and vasospastic angina. He has also written a book on ECG, co-authored by Professor N J Samani.
