Tariq Amin Sheikh FAMS, FRCS, AOAA, MBA

Dr. Tariq Amin Sheikh has been imparting Orthopaedic know-how to the Sultanate of Oman for the past twenty three years. We are fortunate to have Dr. Sheikh extending his services to ATLAS since 2007. Although he is involved in the care of patients with polytrauma and other general orthopedic problems, his main interest lies in pediatric orthopedic problems, dealing with injuries in children, obstetric palsy, injuries due to child abuse, congenital anomalies and correction of deformities using various methods which includes jess fixator and Ilizarov method of treatment. He has a keen interest in treating mentally handicapped children with cerebral palsy and all those affected with various neuromuscular problems.

Malunitted fractures are another area of Dr. Sheik's expertise which he tackles with the same degree of importance as for other complicated injuries. By undergoing the basic and advanced courses in A.O. (Swiss) years back and practicing it for many years Dr. Sheikh became the local instructor for the same. He has lectured on many topics in international and national conferences sharing his experience with other colleagues.

Dr. Sheikh has been a senior lecturer at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and a co-coordinator for student teaching program for many years. He is extensively involved in teaching students of Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and the training of post graduate doctors sent for higher surgical training. At ATLAS, Dr. Sheikh addresses all elective and emergency cases thereby rendering his rich expertise which he has attained over his long career. His wide ranging experience and multilingual skills makes him very popular among expatriates and locals alike.
