Dr. Tanyanan Tanawuttiwat, a cardiac electrophysiologist trained at Johns Hopkins University, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine. After receiving her MD with first-class honor from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 2005, Tanawuttiwat served as a general physician at Photharam General Hospital, a provincial hospital in Ratchaburi, Thailand, from 2005-07. She then had internal medicine residency training from 2007-10 at the University of Illinois at Chicago/Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn, a cardiology fellowship from 2010-13 at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, and a clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship from 2013-15 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Recipient of the Women in Cardiology Trainee Award of Excellence from the American Heart Association in 2014, Tanawuttiwat has authored or co-authored 39 articles in peer-reviewed professional publications, one book chapter, and 17 posters presented at national scientific meetings. Tanawuttiwat is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology. She also is an active member of the Heart Rhythm Society and the American Heart Association.

Dr. Tanyanan Tanawuttiwat performs electrophysiology and catheter ablation in atrial and ventricular arrhythmias as well as device implants and lead extractions. Her main research interests include ventricular tachycardia ablation, catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, and evaluating new cardiac devices.
