Tanya Collin-Histed became involved in the Gaucher world in 1996 when her daughter Maddie was diagnosed with Type III Gaucher disease. A year later she became a volunteer for the Gauchers Association and started to support patients and their families with Type II and III Gaucher Disease. Today she is the CEO of the UK Gauchers Association (a position she has held for 10 years) and the CEO of the European Gaucher Alliance.

In 2003 Tanya became the national development manager for the UK Niemann-Pick Disease Group, the charities first ever employee. However, in 2005 she took up the post of Executive Director of the Gaucher Association UK and has been in this post, now as Chief Executive for a total of 12 years.

Tanya is also the Chief Executive Officer of the European Gaucher Alliance (EGA) and underpins all the activities of the EGA’s from their UK office. Tanya’s main responsibilities within the EGA is supporting patients globally to access treatment through compassionate programmes in partnership with Pharmaceutical Companies and supporting evolving patient’s groups in countries across the globe.
