Tanya Augustine MSc, PhD

Professor Augustine obtained her PhD in 2014 from the University of Witwatersrand, where she has worked as a lecturer since 2007. Her research interests are in unravelling the complexity of the tumour microenvironment by exploring tumour cell interactions with other cell types and understanding evolutionary processes that drive tumour progression. In addition, Professor Augustine holds a postgraduate diploma in Higher Education and is active in areas of quality assurance, governance, academic freedom and equity. Dr Augustine is the recipient of several awards and has recently attained a National Research Foundation C2 rating. She has published in several international peer-reviewed journals, serves as a reviewer on the editorial board of select international journals and has supervised several post-graduate students. She is currently an executive member of the Surgical Research Society of Southern Africa.
