Dr. Kogel is a leading project in mapping and surveillance of heavy metals, arsenic, PCBs, dioxins, flame-retardants, hydrocarbons, surfactants, pesticides, and microplastic in seafood species, providing a comprehensive basis to evaluate food safety, environmental pollution, find the source of pollution.

At the University of Bergen, her objective was to delineate the mechanism of contact-dependent intercellular transfer between cells and the role of tunneling nanotubes in this process.
