Dr. Tanja Gagliardi, MD attained her primary medical degree in Germany. She moved to Switzerland in 2000 to finalize her Radiology training program and was offered the post of Consultant Radiologist at the University of Berne where she launched the MRI- guided Breast Biopsy service. In 2008 she took up a post at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and has been actively involved in Breast Screening where she became QA-Lead. She introduced Large Volume Excision Biopsies for B3 lesions in the Symptomatic Breast Service. In her role as Honorary Senior Lecturer for the University of Aberdeen, she supported several studies to investigate specialist multiparametric MRI methods in the neoadjuvant breast imaging setting. She supported baseline research to investigate the value of FFC-MRI in breast cancer patients. She was actively involved in the supervision of Ph.D. and MSc students and continues to act as Clinical Supervisor.

She was a core member of the multidisciplinary team for Gynaecological Cancer patients and secured an Endowment Fund to set up a study to investigate the value of Whole Body Diffusion MRI in Ovarian Cancer patients. One of her main areas of interest is young women in Breast Cancer, for which she lectures on a regular basis for the European School of Oncology.
