Tamer Saafan MD, MSc, PhD

Dr. Tamer Abbas Hassan Saafan, MD, MSc, Ph.D. is a Consultant of General Surgery at the NMC Royal Hospital Sharjah. Dr. Tamer graduated and thereafter did his master's in surgery (2006) & Ph.D. in bariatric surgery followed by MD (2015) from Ain Shams University, Egypt. Apart from basic general surgical procedures, he has had vast experience & exposure to a spectrum of obesity surgeries.

Dr. Tamer is a member of the international federation of surgery of obesity (IFSO) as well as the emirate society of bariatric Surgeons and a distinguished life member of the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons. He has successfully completed and updated his fellowship in Minimal Access Surgeries & Robotic Surgeries, duly awarded as a Fellow of the International College of Robotic Surgeons & MAS by IAO.

Dr. Tamer completed his fellowship in bariatric surgery in Taiwan under the supervision of Prof Lee who is the inventor of Mini gastric bypass surgery.
