Dr. Takayuki Yoshida graduated as a medical doctor from Niigata University, Japan in 2006. He studied ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia under Dr. Yasuyuki Shibata at Nagoya University Hospital in 2011. He obtained board certification from the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists in 2013. He successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis in 2015 at the Graduate School of Niigata University Medical and Dental Sciences. He was employed as an Assistant Professor at Niigata University Medical and Dental Hospital in 2015. Then, he has been employed as an Assistant Professor at Kansai Medical University Hospital since 2016. Dr. Yoshida’s main areas of interest are the techniques used for ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks. He and his colleagues have published some papers about clinical trials of peripheral nerve blocks, especially truncal blocks and nerve blocks for lower extremity surgery, in renowned anesthesia journals. Furthermore, he has given a number of lectures and served as an instructor on different aspects of regional anesthesia at national and international congresses. In 2015, he received the Young Investigator’s Award from the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists for his research regarding a continuous thoracic paravertebral block. In addition, he received the Young Investigator’s Award from The Japan Society for Clinical Anesthesia for his research regarding a new obturator nerve block technique in 2016. He occasionally serves as a guest reviewer for leading international anesthesia journals including the British Journal of Anaesthesia, Journal of Anesthesia, and Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. In 2017, he has attained the European Diploma in Regional Anesthesia (EDRA) from the European Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Therapy.
