Sylvie Babajko group is focused on dental pathologies resulting from environmental conditions. The human environment has become increasingly contaminated by various pollutants which may have a role in the modern burst of diseases. Among environmental toxicants, endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) have been associated with many existing and emerging pathologies including Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH), a recently described enamel pathology.

Sylvie Babajko research aims to understand the link between exposure to environmental agents (EDCs, fluoride) and enamel defects, as well as the mechanism of action of these molecules in dental cells. Such a work also characterize endocrine regulation of amelogenesis and more generally dental development. Due to the unique properties of enamel, enamel defects may be used as early marker of exposure to environmental toxicants.
