Sylvain El-khoury

Dr. Sylvain el-Khoury is an ophthalmologist at the Kabgayi Eye Unit in Rwanda, a hospital supported by the Christoffel Blind Mission. His area of ​​expertise includes medical and surgical care for retinal diseases and cataract surgery. The main aspect of his current work is imparting specialist knowledge to local ophthalmologists. For several years now, Dr. el-Khoury for establishing health structures for ophthalmology in regions with structural weaknesses. So he and a colleague Dr. Youssef Abdelmassih initiated the AYOUNKON project in Lebanon to treat urgent eye diseases in Syrian refugees, which was supported in two phases with over 420,000 euros by the OCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs).
