Swati Rao MD

Dr. Swati Rao is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology. Swati is a transplant nephrologist who will be the Medical Director of Pancreas Transplantation at UVA. She received her MBBS Grant Medical College & Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Mumbai, India followed by an internship in internal medicine at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center and a residency at the UH, University of Massachusetts. She then completed her fellowship at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, Renal Transplant Fellowship at Emory University before returning to Temple to become an Assistant Professor and Medical Director of the Pancreas Transplant Program. Swati is an outstanding educator and clinician and was thought of very highly by her Chief, Crystal Gadegbeku (former UVA fellow).
