Swamy Gedela MD

Dr. Swamy Gedela is a consultant cardiothoracic and cardiac MRI radiologist at the Essex CTC. He has set up, developed, pioneered and the Essex CTC CMR unit, providing cardiac MRI for over 6 referring NHS trusts. The service is very successful, continues to receive excellent feedback. It is going through further rapid expansion, accelerated to already performing approx. 3000 cardiac MRI examinations per year.

He led the cardiac CT service, continuing to adapt and modify protocols and performs complex cardiac CT imaging at a high level. He provides expert second opinions on cardiac, thoracic, and cardiothoracic CT and MRI imaging. He leads the imaging of the tertiary oncology thoracic mesothelioma MDT for 4 hospitals in Essex.

He is committed and passionate about enhancing and developing the clinical use of cardiac MRI and cardiac CT in the management of patients with Heart Disease. His areas of expertise include Cardiac MRI, Coronary CT angiography, Coronary Calcium scoring, Thoracic oncology CT, High-Resolution thoracic CT and percutaneous lung biopsy.
