Dr. Svetlana Kotova, MD, is board certified in thoracic surgery. She earned her medical degree from Upstate Medical University, State University of New York, NY, and also completed her general surgery residency there. Dr. Kotova completed her thoracic surgery residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Kotova performs a wide range of operations on the chest, lungs, and trachea to treat diseases. Her focus is on minimally invasive and robotic surgery. Studying biology in high school opened the doors to medicine for Dr. Kotova and she saw no other path for her. After medical school she developed an interest in thoracic oncology, specifically lung cancer, as it claims more lives every year than any other cancer.
