Dr. Suzanne Bigelow was born and raised in rural Oregon, one of six children. While attending the University of Puget Sound, she was awarded a music scholarship for clarinet, graduating with a major in biology and minors in studio art and chemistry. Staring adult life full in the face, her next move was to join the Peace Corps and move to Ghana, West Africa, where she taught high school science as well as established and first coached the girls’ soccer team at her school. She attended medical school at the University of Washington. Her Emergency Medicine residency was split between the University of Washington and Boston Medical Center, graduating in 2008. Since graduation, she has worked in New Zealand as well as on a ship in the Antarctic. Dr. Bigelow enjoys traveling/international medicine, the outdoors, reading, and spending time with her husband and daughter. Dr. Bigelow will be pursuing a project in hospital palliative care beginning May 2015 and will not be available for spa treatments. She plans to return this fall!
