Susan Phelan PhD, MT(ASCP)

Susan E. Phelan, PhD, MT(ASCP) served as faculty member and Program Coordinator of the Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC) Phlebotomy Program from 1986 - 2014. During her tenure at Moraine, Sue earned a number of awards, including Professor of the Year in 2003 and Innovator of the Year (Team) in 2011. Under her leadership, the MVCC Phlebotomy Program was one of the first four programs in the nation to receive charter approval from NAACLS on or about 1988 and maintained NAACLS approval since that time, submitting self-studies for program approval every four years (the maximum award). Sue served on the NAACLS Programs Approval Review Committee (PARC) from 1993 - 2001, including a one-year term as Vice-Chairman and a three-year term as Chairman. As Chair, she led the committee through a Standards revision process. Most recently Sue served on the NAACLS User's Group Task Force charged with reviewing and commenting on the most recent Standards revision.
