Dr. Susan (Sue) Leanne Samson, M.D., Ph.D., FRCPC, FACE, is originally from Canada and completed her medical degree at Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario) and Internal Medicine (Chief Resident) training in her hometown of Calgary, Alberta. She completed her Endocrinology fellowship in the Baylor College of Medicine/MD Anderson Cancer Center joint program and remained at BCM as faculty. She recently joined Mayo Clinic in Florida as a senior associate consultant. Dr. Samson's particular clinical interests are functional pituitary tumors including those causing Cushing's disease and acromegaly. Dr. Samson has been a site principal investigator as well as international steering chair for multinational clinical trials in pituitary disorders and has been an internationally invited speaker and a participant in consensus meetings for acromegaly, Cushing's, and growth hormone deficiency. As an educator, she has dedicated many years to training future endocrinologists, and overall Dr. Samson trained over 60 fellows during her time as associate program director and program director. Dr. Samson's contributions have been recognized with the Fulbright and Jaworski L.L.P. Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching and Evaluation, the Rising Star Award, and the Woman of Excellence Award at Baylor College of Medicine.
