Dr. Williams is on staff of the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. She earned her undergraduate degree from Kansas State University, a master's degree in nutrition from the University of Rhode Island; and served as an officer, nutrition professional and reservist in the U.S. Air Force. She completed medical school at Wright State, residency at Kettering Medical Center and a fellowship in clinical nutrition and metabolism at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Williams is board-certified in nutrition, obesity medicine, internal medicine, and densitometry; and is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and the American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists. She is an associate professor of clinical medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, and an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the Wright State University School of Medicine.

Her areas of research include metabolic bone disease and vitamin D deficiency, and has been credited with identifying and defining the first treatment protocols for bariatric osteomalacia. She continues to publish articles and book chapters, and her research has been presented at national and international meetings.Currently she is the Immediate-past President of the Ohio River Region of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, serves on the inaugural board of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and continues to teach, publish, and lecture in her areas of expertise.
