Dr. Susan Faye Dent is a medical oncologist and professor of medicine at the Duke University School of Medicine. She is an associate director of breast cancer clinical research and co-director of the cardio-oncology program at Duke Health. Her interest in the toxicities of cancer treatments, in particular, cardiotoxicity, led to the 2008 establishment of the first cardio-oncology clinic in Ottawa, Canada. She subsequently established the not-for-profit Canadian Cardiac Oncology Network (CCON) in 2011, an organization dedicated to learning how to deliver optimal cancer therapy without compromising cardiovascular health. In 2015, she launched the Global Cardio-Oncology Summit (GCOS), an annual meeting designed to bring health care providers from around the world together to learn about the potential cardiovascular impact of cancer therapies. As a faculty member at Duke University, she uses her expertise to promote breast cancer clinical research to provide the best care for cancer patients and foster our cardio-oncology program.
