Dr. Surya Bhan is a revered and awarded, world-renowned Joint Replacement Surgeon. Dr. Bhan has the honor and distinction of providing treatment to the honorable President, Vice-Presidents, and 4 Prime ministers of the nation. He was the first to introduce the most modern techniques of AO methods of fracture fixation, arthroscopy, and arthroplasty in Delhi and is credited for establishing the country's First Frozen Bone Bank facility at AlIMS. He has to his acclaim the honor of performing 11000+ Joint replacement surgeries including total hip and knee replacements & primary and revision total joint surgeries and has mentored several postgraduates, medical students, and surgeons, over the years. Dr. Bhan's research studies and work has been published in 50 international publications and 102 national publications and he continues to serve as a faculty and visiting professor at several teaching institutions, medical facilities, and conferences both within the country and overseas. He has authored 7 Orthopaedics books and his research work has found reference in some of the renowned textbooks on this subject. During his tenure at AlIMS, the Department of Orthopaedics had been acknowledged as the best department in India by THE WEEK and INDIA TODAY, consecutively in 2004, 2005, and 2006. His contribution to the field of Orthopaedics has been remarkable and exemplary.
