Professor Suresh Senan is a radiation oncologist at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is a Professor of clinical experimental radiotherapy at the Department of Radiation Oncology, and a Professor of cancer biology and immunology at the Cancer Center Amsterdam. 

His current research focuses on the use of radiation combined with immunotherapy, MR-guided adaptive radiotherapy, oligometastatic disease, and comparative effectiveness research. In 2016, he was awarded the Heine H. Hansen Award by the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), in recognition of his research into the treatment of lung cancer. He has more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, including papers in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Lancet Oncology, and Journal of Clinical Oncology. He is a faculty member for Chest Tumors at the European Society for Medical Oncology, and a past-Chair of the Advanced Radiation Technology and Membership committees of the IASLC.

Prior research by his group includes the first use of stereotactic radiotherapy for lung cancer in the Dutch population (2003), routine use of 4-dimensional CT scans in radiotherapy planning (2003), clinical use of volumetric modulated radiotherapy (2008), fast same-day delivery of adaptive IMRT using the ETHOS platform (2021), and single visit MR-guided ablative radiotherapy for patients with lung cancer (2022). He has served as a PI or co-investigator for a number of ongoing and completed international cancer trials.
