Dr. Guliani practices the spectrum of vascular surgery, however, has a particular interest in Pulmonary Embolism care, ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), and traumatic vascular injury. Dr. Guliani joined the University New of New Mexico in 2015. He completed his general surgery residency at Virginia Commonwealth University. He then went on to complete two surgical fellowships in Vascular Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Since joining the University of New Mexico he has had a particular interest in critically ill patients with concomitant vascular problems. He had helped in the development of the University of New Mexico’s Pulmonary Embolism Response team, helping coordinate the care of pulmonary embolism patients. He likewise has been instrumental in the development of UNM’s ECMO program, which utilizes a heart-lung machine to manage patients that are in extremes. Dr. Guliani also has an interest in traumatic vascular injury management.
While at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Guliani has published many articles encompassing new innovations in the management of critical patients with ECMO therapy and on the management of massive and submassive pulmonary embolism.
