Dr. Sukesh C Nair is Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine and Professor CMC Hospital, Vellore. He completed his MD at CMC and went on to do a fellowship (FRCPA) in Haematology at Westmead Hospital Sydney, Australia. He is the scientific coordinator of a proficiency testing (EQAS) program – ISHBT- CMC EQAS as a provider for over 700 participants in Coagulation.
He volunteers considerable time to the bleeding disorder community involving conducting hands-on wet workshops and holding teaching sessions on a diagnosis of these conditions in locations where these educational opportunities were not previously available. He has also created the concept of hemocyte morphometry which is to create the awareness that cell counters could provide parameters that reflect peripheral blood morphology more accurately, methods that are objective unlike the more subjective assessment from a blood film. His laboratory is also a preferred training center in hematology for laboratory personnel who are awarded fellowships by WFH/ISTH and ASH.
