Dr. Steven Teoh is an accomplished family medicine specialist, obesity medicine physician, and medical lecturer. He completed his family medicine specialty training in 2017 and went on to pursue further training in obesity medicine, including the University of Ottawa bariatric medicine clinical fellowship and the Cleveland Clinic's international obesity medicine preceptorship program in 2022. Upon his return to Malaysia, Dr. Teoh established an obesity medicine practice at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Medical Centre Bertram and also practiced as a visiting consultant at Sunway Medical Centre Penang.

Dr. Teoh's commitment to obesity medicine has earned him numerous accolades, including being named a SCOPE National Fellow by the World Obesity Federation, selected as a member of the first SCOPE Leadership Program, and the recipient of the Obesity Medicine Association's prestigious Peter G. Lindner Award. He is also a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr. Teoh shared his expertise with other healthcare professionals through numerous speaking engagements in conferences, workshops, and continuous medical education at national and international levels. Apart from disseminating his knowledge in obesity care, Dr. Teoh is actively involved in several obesity-related professional organizations. He serves as a committee member of the Obesity Medicine Association and is also a member of Obesity Canada, Obesity Action Coalition, and the Malaysian Association for the Study of Obesity. He is passionate about reducing community stigma towards people living with obesity and advocates for evidence-based, non-biased treatment for all patients.

In academia, Dr. Teoh has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles on non-communicable diseases and he is the principal investigator for a number of research grants to assess Malaysian primary care doctors' practice in managing obesity. Dr. Teoh is a two-time recipient of the USM’s Sanggar Sanjung (Hall of Fame) award for publishing academic papers in journals with a high impact factor. He has a keen interest in clinical obesity research and supervises postgraduate research students (MSc and PhD) with the same passion.
