Trained in protein biochemistry at the University of Dundee and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, I did post-Doctoral work on blood clotting proteins at Duke University, and Brandeis University. I was then invited to join the Folkman laboratory at Harvard Medical School where I became immersed in the study of angiogenesis and oncology. I then joined Industry and spent a decade in target identification and validation for oncology drug discovery and development. More recently I have been involved in the development and validation of patient selection assays for early clinical trials in oncology, including the development and deployment of CTC assays.
