Steven L. Percival BSc, PhD, MSc, MSc, FIBMS, PGCE

Steven holds a BSC in Applied Biology, a PGCE, a PhD in biofilms, MSc's in public health and medical microbiology and a postgraduate diploma in Business Administration. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences. Early in his career Steven held R&D and commercial positions at North West Water Ltd, Phenomenex Ltd, British Textile Technology Group Ltd, University senior lecturerships in medical microbiology and was a consultant to numerous government bodies and industrial companies. Following held a senior Director position in global R&D at Aseptica Inc., and in 2002 was awarded a prestigious Centers for Disease Control (CDC) senior clinical fellowship in Atlanta, USA to research and develop novel anti-biofilm technologies.

He also worked in Medical Microbiology Dpartment at Leeds General Infirmary. Over he last 16 years Steven has held numerous senior management, director and Vice President positions in global R&D in a number of B2C and B2B organizations including Bristol Myersand Squibb, ConvaTec, Advanced Medical Solutions Plc, Scapa Medical, T-EDTA Ltd and most recently the 5D Health Protection Group Ltd. In 2015 Steven joined the 5D Health Protection Group Ltd as Chief Scientific Officer and now also holds the position of Chief Executive Officer. He is also the Director of the Centre of Excellence in Biofilm Science and Technologies (CEBST) at Liverpool, Ik.

He is also a non executive Director and Sits on the boards of numerous limited companies involved in medical device research and innovation. Steven is also a Professor at the University of Liverpoo.l in the School of Science and Engineering, awarded to him in 2012. he is editor of the Journal of Medical Microbiology and sits on the editorial board of many other journals. He has written over 420 scientific publications and confrence abstracts and edited/authored eight textbooks and provided over 350 presentations wordwide. He also holds eight granted and pending patents and has invented and commercialised numerous technologies that are presently being sold on the market today. He has and continues to chair numerous committees and conference sessions globally and sits on numerous Europian research funding boards. Steven is a thought leader and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) in biofilms, antimicrobials, infections and wound healing.
