Steven Flamm MD, FAASLD, FACG

Steven L. Flamm, MD, FAASLD, FACG, is a Professor of Medicine and the Clinical Director of Network Development and Outreach for the Transplant Service Line at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He also serves as Director of Research in the Section of Hepatology. Dr. Flamm is a nationally recognized hepatologist specializing in liver disease, hepatology, and liver transplantation.

Dr. Flamm earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed clinical and research fellowships in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School, followed by advanced clinical training in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at The Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Throughout his career, Dr. Flamm has held prominent leadership roles in hepatology and transplantation, including Chief of the Hepatology Program and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He has also contributed extensively to professional organizations, including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), where he has served in several leadership and committee roles.

Dr. Flamm has published extensively on hepatic diseases and has lectured nationally and internationally on viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease, hepatic encephalopathy, liver transplantation, and other liver-related conditions. His clinical research focuses on chronic liver diseases, including hepatitis B and C, hepatic encephalopathy, primary biliary cholangitis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and autoimmune hepatitis.

A respected physician, researcher, and educator, Dr. Flamm has been named a Chicago Top Doctor and continues to advance hepatology, liver transplantation, and the management of complex liver diseases.
