Steven Boggs BA, MD, MBA

Steve Boggs is a healthcare leader and executive with wide-ranging clinical experience in the provision of all types of anesthesia: high-risk OB, CV, thoracic, trauma and orthopedic, outpatient and non-operating room anesthesia (NORA). Over the past decade as administrator of various anesthesia groups he has improved OR efficiency, optimizing preoperative assessment while minimizing costs and complying with ever-growing government and third-party regulations. At the University of Tennessee he is responsible for clinical and research affairs.

Previously, he has served as a chief of anesthesiology services, as the director of all perioperative services and as the director of the operating room. He has coordinated teams of nurses, technicians and physicians who perform either surgery or procedures. A summa cum laude graduate of Washington University in St. Louis (Bio, EE), he completed his medical degree at The Pritzker School of Medicine at The University of Chicago and his anesthesia residency at The University of Pennsylvania. While serving as chairman of anesthesia in Spartanburg, SC., he obtained an MBA from the Univ. of Phoenix to facilitate his interaction with administration.
