Dr. Steven Boeynaems, MSc, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas, USA. He received his Doctor of Philosophy from KU Leuven. His work focuses on understanding the molecular underpinnings of neurodegenerative diseases and stress tolerance. After obtaining his Master's degree, he worked in the lab of Dr. Kevin Verstrepen on the role of tandem repeats in evolution.

Thereafter he continued my doctoral work on tandem repeats at the University of Leuven and VIB, but now in the context of ALS and FTD, under the supervision of Dr. Wim Robberecht and Dr. Ludo Van Den Bosch. During his doctoral years, he has had the privilege to join forces with ALS patient organizations in our fight against this disease. His research interests include Neurology, Neurobiology, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Infectious Diseases, Brain Cancer, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, and Human Diseases.
