Stephen worked at a senior level in the police service for 30 years, in both Lancashire and Merseyside, where he was responsible for operational policing in Liverpool. Stephen completed his police service as an Assistant Chief Constable in Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, responsible for all programme work related to the Protection of Vulnerable Persons and Child Safeguarding; an area in which he has developed significant experience. Stephen is currently the Chair of Hillingdon Safeguarding Children Board and Hillingdon Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board. Stephen was recently appointed as the Chair of Tower hamlets Safeguarding Children Board. Stephen spent two years as Chair of Rotherham Safeguarding Children Board; providing strong leadership through a period when safeguarding services were re-built. Stephen has a consultancy business specialising in child and adult safeguarding and conducts serious case reviews for Local Authorities.
