Dr. Sawin graduated at the top of his class from the University of Rochester School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed both his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and his Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Pennsylvania, during which time he won the medical student teaching award. After fellowship, Dr. Sawin moved to North Carolina where he was the director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility for the Mountain Area Health Education Center.
Dr. Sawin has performed over 3,500 IVF procedures and over 2,500 surgical procedures in his career. He has published extensively and has been invited to speak at local and national scientific meetings. He has published research on the safety of myomectomy for uterine fibroids, the role of tubal hydrosalpinx on IVF success rates and the proper development of the endometrium and its effect on embryonic implantation.
